We are seeking a scientifically minded individual to assist us in scaling up our duckweed production.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the science required to cultivate aquatic plants and be able to optimize inputs specifically for duckweed to boost yields and protein content. Our organization currently runs a test farm in Shamshabad, and all on-field trials will be conducted at this location.

The Plant Biologist will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve the growth and productivity of our duckweed crops. This will involve conducting research, analyzing data, and collaborating with our team to identify and test new approaches.

Our goal is to produce high-quality, nutrient-rich duckweed at scale, and we believe that this can be achieved through innovative and scientific methods.

Responsibilities

1. Oversee growing trials at the Test Farm in Shamshabad(5 mins from airport exit)
2. Building and documenting the playbook for Duckweed growing.
   1. Plant Variety: Select the most suitable plant variety based on factors such as growth rate, protein content, and adaptability to the local environment.
   2. Nutritional Inputs for Growth: Experiment with various nutritional inputs, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, to determine the optimal nutrient composition for maximizing yield and protein content.
   3. Climatic Conditions: Monitor and record the climatic conditions at the test farm, including temperature, humidity, and light intensity, to understand their impact on plant growth and productivity.
   4. Troubleshooting: Investigate any issues that arise during the growing trials, such as disease or pest infestations, and troubleshoot for solutions to minimize their impact on yield and protein content.
3. Supervise On-Field Team: Provide clear instructions to the on-field team on the deployment of nutrition, water, and shades.

Expertise

• A highly qualified candidate with a degree in biology/agriculture/microbiology. Masters degree preferred.
• Practical expertise in growing non traditional crops such as hydroponics and aquaponics.
• Experience of any kind is valued.
